Daikin adds concealed floor-standing unit to VRV 5 R-32 range

Daikin has expanded its VRV 5 Heat Pump lineup with a new concealed floor-standing indoor unit, aiming to support low-carbon heating and cooling solutions for commercial buildings.

The unit is compatible with R-32 refrigerant and integrates Daikin’s Shîrudo Technology, ensuring compliance with IEC60335-2-40 safety standards. The model is designed to overcome traditional room size limitations for R-32 floor-standing systems and can be used in small spaces where other floor units were not viable.

The new floor-standing unit offers installation flexibility similar to wall-mounted and cassette models. Its compact form - 200 mm (7.9 in) deep and 620 mm (24.4 in) high - allows for discreet integration, including under windows, with only the suction and discharge grilles visible. The unit supports high external static pressure (ESP) up to 55 Pa and can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted using the provided feet.

Shîrudo Technology includes built-in leak detection sensors, visual and audible alarms via the Madoka controller, and automatic shut-off valves located in the outdoor unit or SV box. According to Daikin, the system removes the need for extra installation studies, streamlining design and commissioning through its Xpress software.

This new model joins Daikin’s VRV 5 R-32 range, which includes outdoor units with capacities from 12.1 kW (41,300 BTU/h) in cooling up to 87.5 kW (298,600 BTU/h) in heating. The range is suitable for various commercial settings such as offices, hotels, and retail environments.

The VRV 5 series aligns with Daikin’s goal to reach net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050. Featuring R-32 refrigerant, the series complies with the EU F-gas phase-down regulations and supports environmental certifications like BREEAM, LEED, and WELL through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
