Daikin expands AHU and fan coil offering with Compact R and FWQ-A units

Daikin has introduced two new HVAC solutions aimed at increasing energy efficiency and installation flexibility in commercial and residential buildings: the Compact R air handling unit (AHU) and the FWQ-A ducted fan coil unit. Both systems are designed to support integration with modern control platforms and deliver reliable performance across a wide range of applications.

Compact R: Rotary heat recovery in a compact footprint

Compact R is the latest addition to Daikin’s AHU portfolio. It incorporates a rotary heat recovery wheel—available in condensation or sorption versions—to recover both sensible and latent heat, improving energy performance. The unit is available in seven sizes with airflow rates from 500 to 6,000 m³/h and can be installed indoors or outdoors.

Side duct connections, plug-and-play configuration, and optional accessories such as electric heaters, additional filtration, and sound attenuators enhance system adaptability. The Compact R is compatible with the AHU-DX kit and Daikin VRV R-32 systems, supporting heating and cooling without gas boilers. It integrates with Daikin’s IEQ sensors and the Daikin on Site (DoS) remote monitoring platform.

Certified by Eurovent, the unit includes ePM1 50% (F7) and ePM10 75% (M5) filters and is delivered pre-configured for fast commissioning. Its compact design supports installation in renovation projects with limited space.

FWQ-A: Ducted fan coil unit for flexible HVAC design

Daikin’s new FWQ-A ducted fan coil unit is designed for quiet, efficient operation with a high-efficiency BLDC motor and variable Dip Switch for fan speed adjustment. The unit supports external static pressures up to 140 Pa and delivers up to 12.5 kW of cooling at 50 Pa under standard conditions.

Available in nine sizes with cooling capacities from 2.1 to 11.5 kW, the FWQ-A is compatible with 2-pipe and 4-pipe hydronic systems. It comes equipped with a drain pump, sub-drain pan, and optional factory-mounted valves, and supports modular filtration with G2 filters as standard and G3/G4 upgrades.

The FWQ-A integrates with Daikin’s Smart Control System and Shinka platform, including FWEDA PCB, Shinka Touch wall interface, and mobile app control. Its open protocol communication ensures compatibility with Building Management Systems (BMS).

Designed for concealed installation in false ceilings or technical spaces, the FWQ-A is suitable for offices, hotels, commercial areas, and upscale residences. It complements Daikin’s full range of fan coil units, including cassette, flexi, floor-, and wall-mounted models.
