Danfoss Expands Commercial Refrigeration Products Qualified for Lower Global Warming Potential Refrigerants

Danfoss continues pursuing a qualification program for lowering global warming potential (GWP) and environmental impact while complying with new regulations. Recent releases include MLZ and MTZ 60 Hz scroll and reciprocating compressors for R448A and R449A in medium temperature applications. This complements the extensive Danfoss portfolio of valves, controls, controllers, condensers, and sensors already available for those refrigerants. The Optyma Slim range of outdoor condensing units launched in 2017 is also available for those refrigerants. These condensing units are self-contained and ready to install, providing reliable, efficient & quiet operation while being ideal for walk-in cooler and freezer and other foodservice equipment applications. R448A and R449A are excellent alternatives to R404A that are delisted by the U.S. EPA SNAP Rule 20 and no longer acceptable for use in remote condensing unit refrigeration systems. Given the short lifespan and cost of R404A, transitioning to alternative refrigerants having a lower GWP level is a step to take now. The next step will be qualifying compressor and condensing units that include R513A for MBP and R452A, R448A, and R449A with liquid injection for LBP.
