Danfoss has launched new PTS staging valves under its EXO – Extended Oil-Free program, aimed at enhancing the performance and reliability of both oil and oil-free centrifugal chillers and heat pumps. Designed for critical applications such as data centers, hospitals, and industrial processes, the valves offer rapid operation within 5 seconds to prevent compressor surge and support stable system performance during startup and shutdown.
The PTS valves address compressor surge—a common issue in centrifugal systems—by rapidly equalizing pressure between discharge and suction through the evaporator. This fast response helps minimize internal compressor stress during startup, shortens startup time, and improves system efficiency. During shutdown, the valves quickly release pressure to protect components such as bearings and ensure smooth deceleration of the compressor.
Key features include compatibility with all common refrigerants, including A2L; flexible sizing with KV values from 18 to 38; and integration with Danfoss stepper valve drivers such as EKF, EKE 100, and Alsmart® controllers. Constructed with durable materials, the valves are designed for long-term reliability and minimal maintenance in oil-free systems.
Specifically optimized for Danfoss TGx and TTx Turbocor compressors, the PTS valves provide high flow capacity and superior sealing performance. They offer low pressure drop, advanced sealing, and a fast response time compared to traditional solenoid and stepper motor valves.
The PTS staging valve line complements Danfoss’s broader offering of OEM components for chillers and heat pumps, including ETS expansion valves, OFC and OFB oil-free ball valves, and system controllers.
“These valves offer easy integration with our chillers and heat pumps product portfolio, ensuring flexibility and reliability for HVAC&R professionals,” said Xuefeng Bian, Senior Product Manager at Danfoss Climate Solutions.
