ebm-papst launches third-generation RadiPac 3M EC centrifugal fans

ebm-papst has introduced the third generation of its RadiPac radial fans in a metal housing for HVAC systems, precision air conditioning units, electronics cooling, cooling towers and other refrigeration and air conditioning applications. The company said the new series combines high-performance metal impellers, optimized manufacturing processes and intelligent drive technology to address requirements for energy efficiency, fire safety and reliability.

According to the company, modernized sheet metal forming and joining processes are used to produce the impellers. ebm-papst said the metal impellers neither melt nor emit smoke in the event of a fire, while a 3D-formed blade geometry with tight manufacturing tolerances is intended to improve strength and efficiency. Hybrid versions combining a metal impeller and a plastic inlet nozzle with a smaller air gap are also available on request.

The fans are offered in several sizes with impeller diameters from 280 to 800 mm (approx. 11 to 31.5 in). They cover a power range from 170 W to 24 kW (approx. 0.23 to 32.2 hp), deliver airflow of up to 50,000 m3/h (approx. 29,400 cfm) in free discharge, and provide a pressure increase of about 2,500 Pa (approx. 10.0 in. wg). The series includes both standard and compact versions for space-constrained applications.

ebm-papst said the mounting plate and many peripheral components were designed to support replacement of older models, while existing inlet grilles and inlet nozzles remain compatible for easier integration into existing systems. The company also said automatic resonance detection is integrated into the RadiPac to protect bearings during startup, reduce failures and increase reliability.

All fans support 0–10 VDC or MODBUS RTU, feature EMC filters and meet relevant EU and UL certifications, according to ebm-papst. The company added that remote monitoring is possible and that external sensors can be integrated into the fan control system.
