GEA has launched the GEA Grasso L XHP screw compressor, designed specifically for ammonia (NH3) heat pumps and high-pressure gas applications. The new model extends GEA’s established portfolio of industrial compressors with a focus on energy-efficient high-temperature heat generation.
Built on GEA’s proven screw compressor technology, the L XHP has been developed to meet increasing demand for sustainable heating solutions in industrial processes. Its optimized design supports a wide range of high-pressure applications and offers long service life, high reliability, and simplified maintenance.
The L XHP series includes three compressor sizes with a swept volume ranging from 1,990 to 2,748 m³/h at 2,940 rpm. The units can also operate at speeds up to 3,600 rpm, enabling heating capacities from 2 to 11 MW per compressor.
Technical specifications of the L XHP include a design pressure of 70 bar (g), a maximum condensation temperature of 95 °C, and a maximum final compression temperature of 140 °C. The compressor also features a variable Vi (internal volume ratio), allowing it to adapt efficiently to different operating conditions.
With this development, GEA aims to support the deployment of high-temperature ammonia heat pumps in industrial environments, contributing to decarbonization and the transition to natural refrigerants.
