LiquidStack, a global leader in liquid cooling for data centers, has announced the availability of its high-performance Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), the CDU-1MW. Built to be universally compatible with commercial direct-to-chip (DTC) solutions, this new CDU is now available for immediate global shipment.
The CDU-1MW is engineered for advanced computing applications, including generative AI, large language models, and high-performance computing (HPC). It addresses a critical supply issue in the DTC liquid cooling segment, which has seen increasing demand due to the scaling adoption of liquid cooling in data centers. Omdia, an analyst firm, notes that production capacity constraints have limited CDU availability, making this launch timely.
LiquidStack’s focus on liquid cooling has allowed the company to deliver cutting-edge solutions. The CDU-1MW is designed to cool high-performance workloads while reducing energy consumption. It is ETL, CSA, and CE certified and has undergone full-load testing by a third party. Tailored for hyperscalers, colocation services, and large-scale enterprises, the CDU-1MW supports a shift towards hybrid cooling with superior thermal management, enhanced performance, and interoperability.
Key features of the CDU-1MW include:
- High-Performance Cooling: Offers 1,350kW cooling capacity with efficient coolant distribution.
-
Robust Design: Supports the latest AI chips and servers, engineered for durability in high-performance environments.
-
Universal Compatibility and Flexible Integration: Ensures interoperability with multiple CDU vendors and compatibility with various direct-to-chip systems.
-
Energy Optimization: Minimizes energy usage while maintaining optimal cooling performance.
-
User-Friendly Interface: Features a programmable logic controller (PLC) with intuitive controls and monitoring tools.
-
N+1 Redundancy: Includes hot-swappable dual VSD pump operation and optional redundancy features.
Manufactured at LiquidStack’s U.S.-based facility in Carrollton, Texas, the CDU-1MW is part of an extensive portfolio, with additional CDU solutions to be released in 2025. LiquidStack’s portfolio also includes single-phase and two-phase immersion cooling solutions and its MacroModular and MicroModular prefabricated data centers.
Joe Capes, CEO of LiquidStack, highlights the company’s decade-long expertise in designing, manufacturing, and servicing liquid-to-liquid heat exchange systems. LiquidStack’s capabilities in rapid global product delivery and mission-critical service response times have solidified its leadership in the direct-to-chip liquid cooling market.
Nick Schweissguth, Global Director of Product Management at LiquidStack, adds that their exclusive focus on liquid cooling ensures their products incorporate the latest advancements and best practices. The CDU-1MW is designed to withstand high-performance environments, enabling large-scale data center operators to integrate AI deployments seamlessly.
