Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems, Ltd., part of the MHI Group, will begin sequential release of its new 2026 models in the S Series of residential-use air-conditioners in Japan from mid-November. The updated lineup includes large-capacity units of 6.3 kW, 7.1 kW, and 8.0 kW, all of which meet Japan’s energy efficiency standards set for fiscal 2027.
With the addition of the new large-capacity models, the entire S Series—including units from 2.2 kW to 8.0 kW—now complies with the upcoming energy requirements. Enhancements to the heat exchangers and compressors in both indoor and outdoor units have reduced power consumption. The Annual Performance Factor (APF) for each model has improved by 0.2 to 0.3 points compared to previous versions.
The new models feature two types of sensors—motion and thermal—that work with AI to optimize comfort and energy use. The “AI Automatic Comfort” mode adjusts operation based on room occupancy and temperature changes, while “Sensor-Guided Airflow” and “Breeze Direction” modes regulate airflow direction for a more comfortable indoor environment.
To maintain air quality and hygiene, the units include “Refreshing Ion Mode” and “Aqua Ozone Mode,” which release ions and ozone to inhibit the spread of viruses, bacteria, mold, and odor-causing microbes. The “Aqua Ozone Heating Mode” further supports cleanliness by using heated-air drying to suppress mold growth inside the indoor unit.
