New ExV-Z from Carel: Smart Installation and CO2 Usability

CAREL, a multinational specialising in control solutions for the air-conditioning, refrigeration and air humidification sectors, has extended its offering of electronic expansion valves with the addition of ExV-Z, the new family featuring just one valve body for all sizes. “To further improve usability and simplify installation, a new valve has been designed in which the refrigerant expansion section is separate from the body connected to the piping”, explained Andrea Dalan, Valves, Drivers & Flow Control Platform Manager. “This improvement means the same valve body can be used for all sizes, with significant results in terms of simplification and improved usability”. Indeed, responding to the needs of manufacturers and installers, CAREL has simplified the installation and user experience of electronic expansion valves, while maintaining the same high levels of reliability and efficiency. “We have focused or development efforts on the individual components of the ExV-Z”. Dalan continued. “The result is that now the right valve size can be chosen directly in the field, thus optimising logistics, installation and maintenance”. The main features of the valve - in addition to stepper motor technology that ensures very precise, stable and reliable refrigerant flow control - are a replaceable built-in filter that simplifies inspection, and the use of a new stator with the highest degree of protection (IP69K), allowing installation in environments with extreme temperature and humidity conditions.

CO2 Efficiency

Continuous expansion of the range of Made in CAREL valves, plus our consolidated experience and know-how and constant investments in research and development, have given rise to a unique offering also in terms of compatibility with natural refrigerants. The new ExV-Z is in fact perfectly compatible with CO2, efficiently combining environmental-friendliness and energy savings.

Energy savings

CAREL electronic expansion valves used together with electronic control solutions can help achieve energy savings of up to 30% in different applications, as well as substantial improvements in control precision and stability when compared to traditional technology. The ExV family offers the widest range of valves with stepper motors, with cooling capacities from 1 to over 2000 W, usable in all refrigeration and air-conditioning applications. Moreover, very high reliability is ensured on each model (guaranteed lifespan of more than one billion steps).   Read More
