Schmitz Cargobull has launched the new S.CU dc90 transport refrigeration unit, replacing the previous S.CU dc85 model. The unit now comes with the refrigerant R454A as standard, making the company the first manufacturer to integrate this lower GWP refrigerant across its S.CU modular system.
According to the company, the S.CU dc90 offers up to 6% higher cooling capacity and up to 10% lower fuel consumption compared to the previous model. The introduction of R454A, which has an 89% lower CO₂ equivalent than R452A, supports compliance with the EU’s tightening F-Gas Regulation aimed at reducing emissions from refrigerants with high global warming potential.
The S.CU dc90 features a newly developed hermetic 2-stage reciprocating compressor, contributing to higher performance and reduced maintenance costs. Additional benefits include reduced noise during partial load operation and continued use of the Hatz common-rail diesel engine, which supports operation with the CO₂-neutral HVO100 fuel (EN15940).
"With the S.CU dc90, we are offering our customers a future-proof solution that combines maximum cooling capacity with maximum efficiency and sustainability," said Jonathan Steckel, Head of Product Management at Cargobull Cool GmbH & CO. KG.
