Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, now offers commercial building owners in Europe another solution to achieve sustainability goals with the introduction of XStream eXcellent water-cooled chillers. This new model offers customers a combination of extreme efficiencies and high-reliability with low-environmental impact.
The new eXcellent model is part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products designed to lower their environmental impact with next-generation, low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and high-efficiency operation. The model is available with the next generation refrigerant Honeywell Solstice ze (R-1234ze), which has a GWP value of less than one when used in this design.

With capacities ranging from 290 kilowatts (kW) to 2600 kW, the XStream eXcellent range is suited for critical indoor environments such as a data center, hospital, large office building or industrial process applications. The new model delivers optimum efficiency with minimal refrigerant charge at no concession on reliability due to the following features:
- Industry-leading efficient heat exchangers
- Patented low charge Trane CHIL evaporator design
- Oil-free magnetic bearings and high speed centrifugal compressors
- Two completely separated refrigerant circuits
- Trane Adaptive Control with patented industry leading algorithms and multiple diagnostic capabilities
The introduction of the Trane XStream eXcellent range is a contribution to the commitment made by Ingersoll Rand to significantly increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact from its products and operations by 2020. The new solution exceeds current F-Gas legislation requirements and helps customers reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and energy expenditures. This is achieved through the combination of the extreme efficiencies reaching European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER) values of 9.3 and energyefficiency rating (EER) values of 6.2, and the use of the Honeywell Solstice ze (R-1234ze) refrigerant.
