Trane Introduces New XStream RTHF G

Date: 16 August 2018
Trane, a provider of indoor comfort solutions and services, introduces RTHF G, the newest addition in the XStream range of water-cooled screw chillers. The new design, now available in countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa, is part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio, designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and high-efficiency operation. “RTHF G units address the needs of building owners who want to increase the sustainability of their operations, while maintaining or improving capacity, efficiency and reliability with critical, large capacity cooling installations,” said Jose La Loggia, vice president and general manager of Trane in Europe. “We’re proud to continue offering customers new options for sustainability without sacrificing quality, reliability or performance. Our innovations are consistent with the Ingersoll Rand global Climate Commitment, which includes providing customers with products that help reduce the greenhouse gas footprint of refrigerants and provide lower global warming potential alternatives. The new design offers customers an alternative, cost-effective option for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, because the units operate with R-1234ze, a near zero GWP refrigerant. This makes Trane RTHF G units unique on the market today as the only chillers in this capacity range to operate with a near-zero GWP refrigerant, and deliver high seasonal efficiency, low installation footprint and stable part load control at all conditions. The new units feature the largest screw compressors on the market, which when used in a double circuit deliver capacity of up to 2700 kilowatts (kW) and benefit most commercial and industrial cooling applications that require maximum performance and sustainability within a limited installation space. The design of the XStream RTHF G offers reliable, high-efficiency performance with up to 6.3 Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and up to 9.5 European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER) with variable speed. The key differentiators of the new XStream RTHF G screw chillers include -Dual circuit configuration in a market segment that could previously only use single circuit centrifugal chillers. Dual circuit configuration reduces refrigerant content per circuit and further increases reliability -Serial counterflow design compatible with the use of variable primary flow used for the first time in a screw compressor chiller and allowing for a greater efficiency.
