Trane Launches High-Temperature Water-to-Water Heat Pump for Decarbonising Industrial Processes

Trane, a global leader in climate control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies, has unveiled the RTSF HT, a cutting-edge water-to-water heat pump capable of producing hot water up to 110°C. This innovation expands the Trane CITY range of compact heat pumps and chillers, offering a critical solution for industries aiming to decarbonise high-temperature process heating, which has traditionally relied on fossil fuel-based boiler systems.

Revolutionising Industrial Heating

The RTSF HT positions Trane as the first global thermal systems provider to deliver high-temperature heat pump technology up to 110°C using standardised systems, industrial-scale manufacturing, and a robust sales and service network across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Australia, and New Zealand. The unit undergoes rigorous testing at Trane’s advanced laboratory in Epinal, France, ensuring unparalleled reliability and performance.

This new system empowers industries to electrify process heating while repurposing wasted thermal energy, a key step in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and achieving ambitious sustainability goals.

Technical Excellence

The RTSF HT integrates Trane’s proprietary screw compressor technology and uses the ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R1233zd(E). It delivers outstanding efficiency with a coefficient of performance (COP) of up to 4.6 under typical conditions. With a compact footprint of just 930 mm wide, the unit offers high capacity (up to 380 kW) while optimising space and reducing installation costs.

The heat pump also features the Trane Tracer Symbio 800 controller, which employs advanced algorithms for reliable, efficient operation and seamless connectivity, providing low total cost of ownership.

Broad Applications

The RTSF HT is designed for diverse industrial and commercial applications, including:

  • Industrial Processes: Serving the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical sectors.
  • District Heating and Cooling: Offering efficient energy solutions for urban areas.
  • Cascade Heating Systems: Providing advanced thermal solutions with improved energy recovery.
  • By recovering and repurposing industrial waste heat, the RTSF HT optimises energy use, reduces operational carbon footprints, and supports sustainable industrial practices.

With this launch, Trane reinforces its dedication to driving industry transitions towards clean, energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions that enable a sustainable future.
