ASHRAE Recognizes 2025 Honors and Awards Recipients

ASHRAE has presented its 2025 Honors and Awards during the Annual Conference held in Phoenix, recognizing members for professional excellence and contributions to HVAC&R and the built environment. The awards highlight achievements in technical leadership, sustainability, innovation, and service within the Society.

Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award

Gutemberg Rios received the Dan Mills Chapter Programs Award for chapter program excellence.

Donald Bahnfleth Environmental Health Award

Jeffrey Siegel was honored with the Donald Bahnfleth Environmental Health Award for service on environmental health issues.

George B. Hightower Technical Achievement Award

Phil Naughton received the George B. Hightower Technical Achievement Award for technical committee contributions.

Government Affairs Award

Billy Austin was presented with the Government Affairs Award for work with government on technical issues.

Homer Addams Award

Cary Faulkner received the Homer Addams Award for graduate-level research contributions to ASHRAE.

Lincoln Bouillon Award

Jean Leilani Grace N. Clemente earned the Lincoln Bouillon Award for membership recruitment.

Lou Flagg Historical Award

Alan Y.W. Lam was honored with the Lou Flagg Historical Award for historical contributions.

Lower GWP Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Innovation Award

This award was given to two teams:

• Huanan Shen, John Hollick, and Aaron Feng Gao

• Guogeng He, Shaolin Chen, Jun Xiong, Jialiang Hua, and Zhihao Zhang
  for developing low-GWP technologies in developing countries.

Residential Buildings Service Award

Paul W. Francisco received the Residential Buildings Service Award.

Standards Achievement Award

H. Jay Enck and Jason Glazer were awarded the Standards Achievement Award for standards development.

William J. Collins Jr. RP Award

Amanda Forest received the William J. Collins Jr. RP Award for excellence in fundraising.

YEA Award of Individual Excellence

The award was presented to Aaron Besseling, Akshay Bhargava, and Jayson Bursill.

Youth Outreach Award

Juliana Velez received the Youth Outreach Award for STEM engagement.

ASHRAE Journal Paper Award

Max Sherman received this award for “IAQ Paradigms - The Next Generation.”

Science and Technology for the Built Environment Best Paper Award

Awarded to Eric Martin, Tanvir Khan, Bereket A. Nigusse, and Charles Withers, Jr.

Crosby Field Award

Michael Huylo and Atila Novoselac received this award for a paper on digital-twin modeling and renewable fuel transition.

Willis H. Carrier Award

Patricia Guillante earned this award for an outstanding paper by a young professional.

ASHRAE Best Paper Award

Presented for four conference papers to:

Andrew T. Boggs Service Award

Awarded to Costas A. Balaras for continued unselfish, dedicated service.

Eunice Foote Decarbonization Award

Presented to Stet Sanborn for work on carbon emissions reduction in the built environment.

Louise & Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award

Awarded to Christopher Chao for continued preeminence in engineering or research work.
