Carel at the Data Centre World Virtual Show
CAREL will be taking part in the Data Centre World Virtual Show, to be held online on 7 and 8 July as a digital preview of the exhibition scheduled for March 2022 in London. Energy saving will be the protagonist at CAREL’s virtual stand, with products for data centres, supported by IoT services for a complete system offering based on high-efficiency technologies. CAREL’s goal is in fact to provide its extensive years of experience and specific knowledge in data centre applications to maximise the benefits offered by complete solutions.
CAREL’s outstanding solutions for indirect evaporative cooling in data centres are a result of the attention the company has always paid to high-efficiency technologies, allowing the development of products and systems with specific characteristics to guarantee significant energy savings in the target applications. The efficiency and reliability of data centre cooling systems are improved by combining products into a solution in which every single element has been designed to support and boost the performance of the others: heat exchanger, adiabatic humidification and controllers work in synergy, providing the key technologies for building equipment used to cool servers.
The innovative CAREL proposals for the 2021 virtual show include boss micro, within the context of “edge data centres”. The main feature of these architectures is optimised communication with the cloud, while providing local processing and a rapid response made necessary by the increase in network traffic and the consequent need for very fast response times.
The new boss micro is perfectly suited to compact solutions developed for high performance and low latency applications, and cannot be considered a simple gateway: the CAREL monitoring system is an edge device in its own right, because in addition to connecting the field devices it provides local processing, storing and displaying data as trends, as well as on intuitive and easy-to-navigate responsive web pages for all devices, even smartphones. Similarly to the architecture of IT servers, the supervisor is no longer a centralised DCIM but rather a system of local and remotely connected devices to monitor and manage the infrastructure network.
Further benefits of the latest addition to the CAREL boss family are the availability of various standard protocols and the special attention to cyber-security, making it an essential element in monitoring solutions for micro data centres.
The spread of DCiMs and the need for connectivity in data centres are constantly growing: detailed information is essential for optimising infrastructure, saving energy and ensuring faster local and remote troubleshooting. The complexity of these systems and their network connections, together with cyber-security concerns, require an evolution in the traditional paradigm based on BMS connectivity using different protocols.
At Data Centre World, the main European event dedicated to data centres, on 8 July at 10:35 (WET) Enrico Boscaro, Group Marketing Manager for Industrial HVAC, will present a new embedded edge solution for connecting HVAC controllers.
During the event, CAREL will also show how it has improved the management and control of the cooling system of the data centre at Gatwick airport in London, thanks to a technologically-advanced solution that maximized its efficiency.
“This installation exploits our experience with data centres spanning over a decade, combining efficiency, reliability and energy saving”, commented Enrico Boscaro. “Our proposal is based on three key aspects: connectivity and system integration, an intuitive user interface, and complete controller programmability, so as fully satisfy the customer’s requirements. The CAREL solution adopted allows system integration and management, increasing energy efficiency”.
