Centro Studi Galileo: Training Sessions In Qatar And Burkina Faso In Collaboration With United Nations

Centro Studi Galileo’s international agenda is ever so full of high-level appointments: two trainings were delivered from 6th to 10th September 2020, in collaboration with two Agencies of the United Nations and the Italian Association of Refrigeration Technicians (ATF).

On September 6-8, with the support of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), CSG expert trainer Gianfranco Cattabriga could complete the path already started in March for Qatar, thanks to a training and certification session on F-Gas and RAC best practices for 10 Technicians and future Trainers, once again through distance learning modality. During the practical parts the attendees were assisted and supported by five Qatar University Professors from the College of Engineering, whom already went through the spring training and assessment process, perfectly brining to reality the “train-the-trainers” programme, where know-how is shared to educate new Trainers
who will pass it on themselves. All this is part of a broader project that the Italian Association ATF is building together with the Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) of United Nations and the Qatari Ministry of Municipality and Environment: a certification scheme for the safe and professional handling of all equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases.

A few days, but many kilometres away, on September 8-10 Madi Sakandé, newly-elected President of the pan African Association U-3ARC and CSG expert trainers, has delivered another train-the-trainers session in Burkina Faso, focused on best practices for refrigeration and air conditioning, with a specific attention to the latter, plus the safe use and efficient use of flammable refrigerants, such as R290 in A/C split systems; the European blended learning programme Real Alternatives, of which Centro Studi Galileo is official training provider, supported the event with its broad material. The training, commissioned by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and led also thanks to the collaboration of local Authorities – first and foremost the Ministry of Environment and the Ozone Office – featured among other topics environmental impact and safety; a big part of its practical part was dedicated to the proper use of equipment suitable for such refrigerants.
