ebm-papst presents NEXAIRA digital ecosystem at ISH Frankfurt

At ISH Frankfurt, ebm-papst introduced its NEXAIRA ecosystem, a suite of digital solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency, reliability, and operational control in refrigeration, air, and climate systems. The system integrates technologies for predictive maintenance, AI-supported optimization, and smart monitoring.

NEXAIRA is designed to go beyond traditional fan operation. It fine-tunes the performance of electronically commutated (EC) fans by analyzing real-time system data. This allows the operating points to be adjusted dynamically - especially in applications such as FanGrid systems - to match actual demand. The combination of high-efficiency EC fans with NEXAIRA’s digital tools can reduce fan energy use by up to 70%, according to the company.

The ecosystem supports both new installations and retrofit projects. In retrofit applications, replacing outdated fans with modern EC fans already yields energy and cost savings. Adding NEXAIRA's digital features - such as 360° system monitoring and intelligent control - can further improve system performance.

NEXAIRA also includes functions such as demand-controlled ventilation (DCV), vibration monitoring, and the detection of clogged filters or heat exchangers. These services can be adapted for specific industry needs. Remote monitoring and easy commissioning are key features, supported by the ebm-papst Service App. The app facilitates setup, function testing, and cloud connectivity.

For refrigeration and air handling systems, NEXAIRA aims to support technicians and engineers facing growing performance demands and limited personnel resources. Its cloud-to-cloud communication and integrated monitoring help streamline setup and maintenance.

A key application of NEXAIRA is in data centers. Using digital twin technology, ebm-papst simulates and analyzes entire cooling circuits in real time. Adaptive control strategies based on this modeling can cut cooling energy use by up to 50%. The solution also addresses compliance and sustainability goals. An on-premises setup ensures data security, and an integrated alerting system supports early fault detection and intervention.

ebm-papst notes that this technology can also be extended to other types of refrigeration systems, offering energy-saving potential across a broad range of applications.
