EPEE webinar in collaboration with UNEP

As part of UNEP’s 43rd Meeting of the Working Parties to the Montreal Protocol, the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) would like to invite you to its event ‘New modelling to support governments in identifying pathways to ensure efficient use of energy and resources while phasing-down HFCs’ on 15 July 2021, 13:00 – 14:00 EAT.

Whether it is in the EU or at global level, top priorities to achieve climate neutrality are crystal clear: CO2 emissions related to energy production and consumption account for at least 80% of total greenhouse gas emissions and heating and cooling represent roughly half of the total final energy consumption. In parallel, the phase-down of HFCs is in full swing and will further contribute to achieving the Paris Agreement. With over 110 countries having already ratified the Kigali Amendment and the recent commitment of the US and China to implement it, activities are further accelerating.

This side-event in cooperation with UNEP OzonAction will present an innovative new model, developed by EPEE, Gluckman Consulting and UNEP which will allow governments to assess pathways towards achieving their commitments under the Kigali Amendment while taking into account the efficient use of energy and resources. It allows to understand total greenhouse gas emissions, including both direct, refrigerant related emissions and indirect, energy related emissions. Concrete modelling outputs will be presented and pilot countries will share their experience.

Speakers:

  • Ms. Andrea Voigt & Ms. Federica Rizzo, EPEE
  • Mr. Ayman Eltalouny, UNEP OzonAction
  • Mr. Ray Gluckman, Gluckman Consulting
  • Ms. Azra Rogović-Grubić, National Ozone Unit, Bosnia and Herzegovina
