Event to highlight smart, resilient, and equitable infrastructure strategies.
The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) will host its annual Global Infrastructure Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, from 21–23 September 2025. This flagship event will bring together engineering professionals, infrastructure leaders, and policymakers from around 100 countries to discuss the sector’s evolving role in shaping sustainable development.
FIDIC, which represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms globally, selected Cape Town as this year’s venue in line with South Africa’s G20 presidency and its theme of solidarity, equality, and sustainable development. The 2025 conference theme, Smart Infrastructure: Equality, Resilience and Innovation for a Sustainable World, will guide sessions exploring critical infrastructure challenges and opportunities.
Key sessions include The Politics of Infrastructure, featuring insights from global and local policymakers, and Delivering Infrastructure with Integrity, Quality and Sustainability, which will address leadership's role in responsible project delivery. Other panels will examine infrastructure financing amid rising debt levels and delivering infrastructure that benefits society, climate, and biodiversity.
“This is the right time and place for the infrastructure sector to meet and show its excellence, integrity and significance in shaping a better tomorrow for all,” said FIDIC president Catherine Karakatsanis.
In addition to the conference agenda, attendees will engage in networking and cultural experiences showcasing Cape Town’s diversity. The event is expected to draw hundreds of delegates representing the global consulting engineering and construction industries.
