Global Campaign Celebrated World Ventil8 Day to Promote Indoor Air Quality

On November 8, the global HVACR and indoor air quality community celebrated World Ventil8 Day (WV8 Day), an annual initiative aimed at raising awareness of the vital role of ventilation in supporting health and wellbeing. Held every year on November 8, the 2025 edition focused on the theme “Collaborate to Ventilate”, encouraging professionals and advocates to share stories of joint efforts that have advanced ventilation practices worldwide.

The campaign aimed to highlight how collaboration has led to progress in technology development, guidance, training, and public awareness. Participants were invited to showcase initiatives that improved ventilation systems for health and energy efficiency, supported evidence-based policy, or contributed to workforce development in the ventilation sector. Supporters shared their activities and messages using the hashtags #WorldVentil8Day and #Collabor8Ventil8.

A dedicated toolkit—including logos, posters, social media banners, and educational materials—was made available for download to help individuals and organizations show their support. In parallel, a new 2025 report titled “A Breath of Fresh Air” was released by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), highlighting the long-term health impacts of air pollution across the life course, including exposure to indoor pollutants.

World Ventil8 Day was initiated by a coalition of researchers and professional bodies committed to improving ventilation and indoor air quality. Organizers include the Future Urban Ventilation Network, the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA).

Additional supporting organizations include REHVA, AHRI, AREA, UNEP, TAPAS, Clinically Vulnerable Families (CVF), CleanAir4V, AIRAH, BioAirNet, the Clean Air Programme, GCP Europe, ISIAQ, NAQTS, CNI, ASHRAE, and the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre (AIVC).

“Ventilation is one of the most effective tools we have for improving indoor environments,” said one of the campaign’s organizers. “World Ventil8 Day was about making this knowledge accessible and actionable for everyone.”
