The Green Cooling Initiative III has launched “Green Cooling Webinars,” a new series aimed at promoting sustainable refrigeration and air conditioning technologies worldwide. The webinars are designed to share recent research findings, updated resources, and practical insights with a global audience of professionals and stakeholders.
Each session will last 60 minutes and focus on a specific topic related to sustainable cooling. Presentations from technical experts will be followed by a live Q&A segment, allowing participants to discuss challenges and solutions in detail.
The series will begin on 3 April 2025 with a session titled “R290 – A Sustainable Cooling Revolution.” This webinar will present the updated R290 Resource Guide, a key reference for using propane (R290) as a refrigerant. R290 offers high energy efficiency and has zero global warming potential (GWP), making it a sustainable alternative for the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump (RACHP) sectors.
Split-type air conditioners contribute significantly to global energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions due to their high electricity demand and reliance on high-GWP refrigerants. The webinar will explain how R290 can help reduce these emissions and improve overall system efficiency. It will also address safety and technical challenges in adopting R290 and share examples of its practical use in RAC equipment.
Further topics in the series will include Green Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in the Hotel Sector, Solar Cooling, and Leakage Control.
“We are thrilled to launch this webinar series, which will serve as a crucial platform for disseminating our research and fostering collaboration within the Green Cooling Initiative network,” said Ellen Michel, project manager of the Green Cooling Initiative. “By sharing knowledge and best practices, we aim to accelerate the transition to sustainable cooling solutions worldwide.”
The webinars are open to all members of the Green Cooling Network and anyone interested in sustainable cooling technologies.
