The 26th International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR), held on August 21-25, 2023, was a resounding success with approximately 1,000 attendees from 58 countries.
The congress offered a comprehensive technical program, including 99 technical sessions and 14 keynote presentations. A total of 453 full papers were presented, along with 25 full posters, highlighting ground-breaking research and innovations in refrigeration technology.
The event thrived thanks to the generous support of 33 sponsors and the active involvement of 28 exhibitors, underlining the vital role of industry collaboration in advancing refrigeration technology. 

INWIC at ICR 2023

The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) organized an International Network of Women in Cooling (INWIC) round table on Monday 21st August 2023 at the ICR 2023 congress. The round table gathered four women from various sectors of the HVACR industry and discussed how women could overcome barriers to enhance their career paths. Dr. Yosr Allouche was announced as the first woman to be elected as the IIR Director-General since its creation in 1908.

New IIR Science and Technology Council

During the statutory meetings that preceded the International Congress of Refrigeration, important announcements were made concerning the new structure of the IIR Science and Technology Council (STC). These changes result from strategic decisions aimed at boosting and strengthening the scientific and technical activities of the organization.

Student Networking at ICR 2023

At ICR 2023, Wednesday, August 23 was dedicated to young people. The program began with two award ceremonies: IIR Young Researchers’ Awards and Best Student Paper Competition.
After the award ceremonies, it was time for the Student Networking event where students and early-career researchers came together to exchange ideas, share their passion for research, and discuss career opportunities with senior experts and professionals.

The next edition of ICR scheduled to take place in Seoul in four years’ time.
