The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) has announced that the detailed programme for the IIR International Conference on Refrigeration Adapting to Rising Temperatures (Adaptation 2025) is now available online.
Scheduled to take place from 10–13 August 2025 in Manchester, UK, the event will address how the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump (RACHP) sector must adapt to the challenges of climate change. The conference will bring together international experts to share strategies for managing rising temperatures and extreme weather conditions.
Key themes include risk management, environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, and the future direction of RACHP systems. The agenda features nearly 50 technical papers, five interactive workshops, and one short course. Topics will include building resilient cold chains, managing heat in buildings and industrial processes, and showcasing low-carbon innovations and net zero initiatives.
Workshops will focus on practical tools such as using refrigeration data for added value and applying energy benchmarking to reduce operational costs and emissions.
The keynote sessions will present arguments for recognising cooling as critical infrastructure and assess the impacts of climate change on the UK food system.
“We have now completed the programme for the Adaptation conference, and it includes a great mix of keynote speakers, technical papers and side events,” said Andy Pearson FInstR, Chair of Adaptation 2025’s Organising Committee. “I am really looking forward to welcoming our international colleagues to Manchester, which is a fantastic venue for this event. I hope to see you there in August.”
