Sixteen refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) instructors from twelve Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in India have completed a two-week Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in Maintal, Germany.
Conducted at the Bundesfachschule für Kälte-Klima-Technik (BFS), the programme aimed to strengthen technical education on cooling systems using natural refrigerants. Participating faculty members received hands-on experience with training benches and tools that will be deployed at their respective institutes in India.
The training included theoretical and practical modules, with a focus on advanced copper piping techniques and the safe handling of propane (R290) as a refrigerant.
This ToT is part of Stage II of the Hydrochlorofluorocarbon Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) under the Montreal Protocol. It was organized by GIZ Proklima in partnership with India’s National Ozone Unit, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
