LG Electronics is introducing its new Therma V R290 Monobloc 7- and 9-kilowatt (kW) air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP) at IFA 2024, held in Berlin from September 6-10. These models feature an advanced compressor to enhance efficiency and blend seamlessly into various surroundings. With the implementation of the EU's Nearly-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) standards, demand for AWHPs is rising, and these medium- and small-capacity models cater to this need.
The 7- and 9 kW models expand LG's portfolio following the success of the larger 12, 14, and 16 kW models launched last year. LG is also establishing an R&D Lab in Frankfurt to develop high-efficiency HVAC solutions tailored to Europe’s varying climates. By adopting the R290 refrigerant, which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3, the Therma V models achieve an impressive energy rating of A+++, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
The advanced compressor ensures effective operation even in colder climates, producing a water output of up to 75 degrees Celsius at minus 15 degrees Celsius. The models operate quietly at 49 dB(A) for the 7kW model and 50 dB(A) for the 9kW model, thanks to LG's Shaft Through structure, which reduces friction and minimizes noise. The design features a sophisticated black-tone casing and a wave-pattern grille, fitting aesthetically into various home exteriors.
LG's new AWHPs integrate seamlessly with different indoor units and offer easy control and energy monitoring via the ThinQ™ platform. The streamlined installation process and remote firmware updates through BECON cloud enhance efficiency for installers and service partners.
Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, emphasized that the new models offer Europeans a broader range of capacity options while delivering enhanced performance and user comfort. He highlighted LG's commitment to leveraging its competitiveness in high-efficiency energy technologies and key component solutions tailored to regional needs.
