A two-day programme in Rabat marked the official launch and included the first session of the NCAP’s National Steering Committee. Participants from government ministries, national agencies, and the cooling sector reviewed the NCAP workplan, discussed governance frameworks, and examined modelling strategies to assess Morocco’s current and future cooling needs.
The Steering Committee convened at the Ministry of Energy Transition to define coordination structures and data strategies. Technical consultants presented modelling approaches under various policy scenarios, and committee members provided feedback to ensure alignment with Morocco’s domestic goals and international commitments, such as the Kigali Amendment and the Global Cooling Pledge.
UNEP and RCREEE also met with industry stakeholders, including the Moroccan Association of Refrigeration Professionals (AMPF), Ventec Maroc, and Froidel. These visits highlighted the role of industry in supporting sustainable practices within Morocco’s cooling sector.
Morocco joins 42 countries currently developing or implementing NCAPs under the Global Cooling Pledge, which aims to reduce cooling-related emissions by over 60 percent by 2050.
