Pfannenberg to Present Audible and Visual Gas Detection Alarms at IIAR 2025

Pfannenberg, Inc. will showcase its combined visual-audible signaling solutions at the IIAR Natural Refrigeration Conference & Heavy Equipment Expo, taking place March 2-5, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. The company specializes in ammonia gas detection alarming and will highlight its PATROL PA X Series Audible and Visual Alarms and PYRA Compact LED Traffic Lights, designed to enhance workplace safety in ammonia-cooled environments.

With the increased use of natural refrigerants and the growing demand for cold storage, the risk of ammonia gas leaks is rising. To address this, the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) has updated its standards to improve system design, maintenance, and operation safety. However, selecting the correct audible and visual alarms under these guidelines can be complex.

“Ensuring worker safety in environments where ammonia refrigerants are present is paramount. Our PATROL PA X Series Audible and Visual Alarms and PYRA Compact LED Traffic Lights provide robust, reliable, and highly visible warnings in challenging conditions, not only safeguarding personnel but also meeting the latest IIAR-2A standards for industrial refrigeration safety,” said Jacob Vernon, Product Manager, Audible and Visual Signaling.

Pfannenberg’s Signaling 3D-Coverage approach ensures alarms are both seen and heard throughout a facility, increasing safety and regulatory compliance. The PATROL PA X Series features sound outputs ranging from 100 dB to 122 dB, 80 alarm tones, and a 5-15J Xenon strobe. The high efficiency and strong sound penetration reduce the number of required alarm units, simplifying installation.

The PYRA Compact LED Traffic Lights (PY L-S-TL) provide color-coded ammonia level warnings before workers enter a room. With green, yellow, and flashing red indicators, combined with an audible alarm, the device helps facilities monitor ammonia levels effectively. The system can be pre-assembled or customized to meet specific site requirements.

By aligning with updated IIAR-2A regulations, Pfannenberg’s solutions offer a practical approach to ammonia gas detection and safety compliance. Expo attendees can visit Booth 451 to learn more about selecting the right signaling devices for their facilities.
