UNEP OzonAction will run its “Five Days of Cool Intelligence” campaign from 22 to 26 June 2026 for World Refrigeration Day. The campaign will examine how policies, technology, workforce skills and responsible practices can support more sustainable, efficient and accessible cooling.
The first day will focus on regulations and national plans for efficient, low-emission cooling. Subsequent themes will cover system design, installation and servicing; lifecycle refrigerant management; sustainable cold chains; and workforce development.
The campaign will address refrigerant recovery, recycling and responsible handling, as well as the role of cooling in food security, health and climate resilience. It will also highlight training, skills and equal opportunities in the cooling sector.
Each day will include a short web story, an infographic and social media content. OzonAction said the campaign aims to show how informed choices, improved practices and investment in people can reduce emissions and energy use while supporting development.
The campaign coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Kigali Amendment’s adoption. OzonAction said faster and smarter implementation is needed to meet growing cooling demand while protecting the climate.
