Resonant and Haier Biomedical Launch R290-Cooled Benchtop Centrifuge

Resonant Clinical Solutions and Haier Biomedical have launched the LX-60T100R refrigerated benchtop centrifuge for clinical trial applications. The jointly developed unit uses natural hydrocarbon refrigerant R290 and is designed to comply with upcoming restrictions on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) in Europe and the U.S.

The LX-60T100R reduces refrigerant global warming potential (GWP) from more than 1,400 in legacy F-gas systems to approximately 3. According to the companies, the centrifuge can pre-cool from room temperature to 4 °C (39.2 °F) in approximately five minutes. It supports routine clinical trial workflows involving blood collection tubes, 15 and 50 mL (0.51 and 1.69 US fl oz) conical flasks, and bottles up to 100 mL (3.38 US fl oz).

The centrifuge features a 7-inch (17.8 cm) LCD touchscreen with glove-compatible controls, RFID rotor recognition, user login functions, and storage for more than 1,000 programs. Safety features include vibration and imbalance detection, level checking, and rotor-life monitoring. The unit weighs approximately 46 kg (101 lb), operates at noise levels as low as 52 dB(A) with fixed-angle rotors, and can be installed on a standard laboratory bench without special mounting.

“Our collaboration with Haier Biomedical on this reimagined natural-refrigerant centrifuge has been pivotal in delivering innovative, globally supported technology that meets F-gas regulatory requirements and market demand, years ahead of mandated deadlines,” said Christophe Berthoux, Chief Executive Officer of Resonant Clinical Solutions.

Clinical trial sponsors and contract research organizations can purchase or rent the LX-60T100R exclusively through Resonant Clinical Solutions until November 2027. The 220–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz version is available immediately, while the 110 V AC, 50/60 Hz model is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2027.
