Williams has launched an online Coldroom Embodied Carbon Calculator that provides verified embodied carbon figures for bespoke coldroom configurations. The company says the tool is the first of its kind in the UK commercial refrigeration industry.
Developed by Williams’ engineering and IT teams, the calculator uses CIBSE-verified component data. Users can configure a coldroom by selecting the number of compartments, dimensions, door specifications and floor specifications.
The tool then calculates an embodied carbon figure for the selected configuration. Williams said the data can support carbon reporting and purchasing decisions.
Williams has already published CIBSE-certified embodied carbon figures for its Jade cabinets and counters, blast chillers, chef drawers, bottle coolers and Amber cabinets. The company said additional product families are under development.
Each component included in the calculator has a CIBSE-verified embodied carbon value, enabling the total figure for each bespoke coldroom configuration to be generated from verified data.
