New multi-compartment trailers and rigid trucks will provide precise temperature control for regulated pharmaceutical distribution nationwide.

AAH Pharmaceuticals has begun taking delivery of 38 new temperature-controlled trailers and 23 rigid trucks fitted with Carrier Transicold systems. The vehicles will replace older fleet equipment and support nationwide pharmaceutical distribution under cold chain regulations.

The order includes 17 bespoke double-deck, triple-compartment trailers measuring 13.6 metres (44.6 feet), developed with Carrier Transicold, Gray & Adams and Dawsongroup Truck & Trailer. Each trailer uses a Vector HE 19 MT system to maintain two upper- and lower-deck compartments at 18°C (64.4°F) and a third upper-rear section at 5°C (41°F).

An airflow system concentrates chilled air at the rear during loading, helping stabilise temperatures while the deck is lowered and the doors are open. Standalone chillers built into the trailer swan neck provide additional capacity and load flexibility.

The Vector HE 19 MT combines Carrier Transicold’s E-Drive all-electric technology with a multi-speed engine. According to Carrier, its hermetic scroll compressor and economiser provide 40% more refrigeration capacity during pull-down, while the unit is 10% lighter, 3 dB(A) quieter and 19% more efficient on electrical standby than the Vector 1950.

AAH Pharmaceuticals has also ordered 21 dual-compartment 13.6-metre (44.6-foot) trailers with Vector HE 19 MT units and 23 18-tonne (19.8-US-ton) DAF XB rigid trucks fitted with Gray & Adams multi-compartment bodies and Supra HE 11 MT systems. All units are covered by a BluEdge full-service maintenance package that includes annual temperature-control testing and certification in line with pharmaceutical goods distribution practice requirements.
