Baxi has introduced two Auriga HP+ air-to-water heat pump ranges for heating, cooling and domestic hot water production. The Auriga HP+ covers 50–170kW, while the high-efficiency Auriga HP+ ES covers 55–170kW and is designed for lower energy consumption and reduced sound levels. Both ranges use R290 propane refrigerant with a GWP of 3.
The reversible heat pumps can produce hot water at temperatures up to 70°C (158°F) and are intended for new buildings, replacement of existing systems and hybrid applications with an existing boiler. The brochure lists heating operation from -20°C (-4°F) to 42°C (108°F) outdoor temperature and cooling operation from -10°C (14°F) to 45°C (113°F).
Auriga HP+ uses axial fans, while the HP+ ES incorporates enlarged-diameter EC inverter axial fans that modulate airflow according to cooling load and outdoor temperature. Baxi states that the ES design reduces energy consumption and sound levels. Published sound power levels range from 82 to 86 dB(A) for HP+ and 72 to 78 dB(A) for HP+ ES; a low-noise option is available for HP+.
Both ranges use scroll compressors, copper-aluminium air-side heat exchangers with hydrophilic treatment and AISI 316 stainless-steel brazed plate heat exchangers. Factory-fitted options include pumps, anti-snow protection grids, R290 leak detection, low-water-temperature cooling kits and several condenser-coil protection treatments.
The programmable control complies with IEC61131 and includes an LED display, local Wi-Fi access and Modbus RTU connectivity. Optional connectivity includes BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP and an Ethernet gateway supporting Modbus TCP-IP, SNMP or Web Server connections.
