BITZER’s international training centre, the SCHAUFLER Academy in Germany, celebrated its tenth anniversary on 17 September with an open day and science slam focused on supporting young talent. Around 310 visitors took part in the anniversary programme.
Since 2016, the academy has provided application-oriented education and training in face-to-face and online formats for BITZER customers, partners and employees, as well as young people in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector. Over ten years, 100,000 participants from 129 countries have attended 2,000 seminars and training courses.
Face-to-face courses allow participants to work on modern systems and practise the safe handling of components, applications and refrigerants under real operating conditions. BITZER engineers and technicians provide theoretical and practical instruction, while the programme is continuously adapted to technological developments and regulatory requirements.
The anniversary open day featured 18 activity stations and live demonstrations covering topics including energy, space travel, robotics and refrigeration technology. BITZER employees, youth research centres, higher education institutions, universities and other partners contributed to the programme.
An evening science slam attracted an audience of 110 and addressed research questions related to refrigeration, heat, climate and energy. Dr Johannes Brunder won the audience vote with a presentation examining whether making ice cubes and throwing them out of a window could be a viable heating concept.
“With event formats like these, we want to inspire young people to take an interest in science and technology and encourage them to help shape the innovations of tomorrow with their ideas,” said Volker Stamer, Director of the SCHAUFLER Academy.
