Clivet debuts next-gen magnetic levitation compressor for data centers

Clivet has introduced its next-generation magnetic levitation compressor for data center cooling. The new technology is based on the company’s DUO POWER BOOST dual-rotor variable-speed architecture and is designed to address varying data center loads, water temperature conditions and system operating strategies.

The compressor uses a two-stage compression structure with two rotors and impellers that can independently adjust their speeds according to operating conditions. This allows the system to adapt to different flow rates and pressure ratios and supports cooling source optimization under complex operating conditions.

Clivet also presented a broader data center cooling portfolio comprising magnetic levitation cooling sources, magnetic cooling distribution units (CDUs), high-capacity CDUs, fan walls and terminal units. Its air-cooled magnetic levitation chiller provides facility-side cooling, while the magnetic CDU combines cooling source and liquid cooling distribution functions.

The high-capacity CDU handles secondary-side heat exchange and distribution, with capacity of up to 3 MW at a 3K approach temperature difference (ATD), or 5 MW at a 5K ATD. Predictive temperature control maintains fluctuations within ±0.5°C, while key components support online replacement.

Clivet made the global debut of the technology at AI Infra Summit 2026 in Santa Clara, California, where it also demonstrated a power-and-cooling coordination solution with CLOU for AI workloads.
