Carrier Transicold has upgraded its BlueEdge Partner Program by introducing the Vessel Control Tower (VCT) platform. This new platform complements Carrier’s Lynx Fleet telematics, allowing for real-time remote monitoring of container refrigeration units and other connected assets on ships.
The VCT platform, available through the BluEdge reseller channel, provides network coverage at sea and offers ship crews an overview of all connected assets onboard, including Carrier Transicold units and other assets. Working alongside Lynx Fleet, it aids refrigerated transporters in maintaining compliance and accountability for perishable goods and pharmaceuticals.
The VCT platform supports a 'management by exception' approach, displaying notifications and alerts for connected assets through a user-friendly vessel bayplan interface. This reduces the need for seafarers to manually monitor reefers, enhancing safety and efficiency.
VCT technology offers real-time visibility for crew and onshore personnel, supporting:
- A mixed-reefer fleet view.
- A mixed-asset view (refrigerated units, dry boxes, gensets, etc.).
- A partner shipping line’s asset view with data-exchange agreements.
“VCT fills a crucial coverage gap during extended sea voyages. When used with Carrier’s Lynx Fleet, it enables end-to-end remote monitoring of connected assets, eliminating the need for manual container checks,” said Tan Bor Yow, Senior Channel Manager at BluEdge, Global Container Refrigeration, Carrier Transicold. “This ensures optimal cargo safety, cost reductions, and operational efficiency through the voyage, marking a significant advance in supply chain management.”
The VCT platform utilizes cellular and long-range technology, transporting data to the cloud without APIs, and employs a cost-effective satellite terminal for near real-time monitoring. Its hardware can be retrofitted on existing equipment and installed on any container vessel within four hours by an authorized BluEdge Partner.
