Carrier Transicold launches REN Program to upgrade mid-life reefers

Carrier Transicold has introduced the Reefer Enhancement and Next-life (REN) Program, designed to extend the service life and improve the efficiency of mid-life PrimeLINE refrigerated units. The initiative aims to help customers reduce operating costs while enhancing sustainability across existing fleets.

Targeting PrimeLINE units aged six to ten years, the REN Program offers upgrades such as high-efficiency EDGE compressors, optimized coils, and refrigerant retrofit kits. These enhancements can extend the operational life of units by up to three years. Customers may also opt to include Lynx Fleet, Carrier’s telematics solution, which supports predictive maintenance and fleet optimization.

According to Carrier, the REN upgrades offer improved energy efficiency, lower fuel and maintenance costs, and better alignment with environmental regulations such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Upgraded units also benefit from enhanced reliability and increased resale value.

“As the shipping and maritime industry accelerates its transition to lower carbon operations, companies are seeking solutions that maximize the value of existing assets while minimizing environmental impact,” said Pablo Martinez, Senior Director, Aftermarket and Services, Carrier Climate Solutions Transportation. “Our Reefer Enhancement and Next-life Program enables shipping lines and leasing companies to easily enhance the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of their current fleets.”
