Dansk Cater A/S in Denmark has introduced new fully electric Scania Regional trucks equipped with Frigoblock EK refrigeration units from Thermo King, adapted for battery-electric vehicle (BEV) operation. The deployment supports the company’s strategy to reduce emissions and noise during urban and regional deliveries.
The trucks, operating since March 2025, are part of Dansk Cater’s nationwide fleet of over 300 vehicles that distribute temperature-sensitive products to restaurants, schools and universities. The Frigoblock EK units were upgraded to meet the technical and safety requirements of Scania’s latest electric platform, with reduced power consumption and noise levels for inner-city operations.
Thermo King worked in collaboration with Scania and local dealer Im. Stiholt A/S to integrate the refrigeration units with the BEV trucks. The fully electric units connect to the vehicle’s high-voltage system, maintaining the same cooling performance as diesel-powered units. Their undermount design further limits noise impact in residential areas.
“Our priority was to achieve emissions and noise reduction without sacrificing reliability or cooling capacity and thus the quality of the transported goods,” said Kim Christiansen, transport manager at Dansk Cater. “Thanks to Thermo King’s tailored solution and collaboration with Scania, we have the confidence and peace of mind to operate a fully electrified fleet in urban areas – without disruptions to our customers or local communities.”
“The Frigoblock EK for BEV trucks is not just a product upgrade, it reflects our ongoing collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators to deliver practical, high-performing and efficient electric refrigeration solutions,” said Sergio Blas Medina, product manager for Large Truck Electrification at Thermo King.
