Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the leading temperature-controlled food storage and logistics firm in Latin America, has announced the expansion of its Montevideo warehouse, situated in the Polo Oeste logistics park. The expansion adds 13,000 pallets of frozen and chilled capacity, increasing the total storage capability to 48,000 pallet positions within a 267,000 cubic meter storage area.

This development underscores Emergent Cold LatAm's commitment to modernizing Uruguay's food cold chain and delivering integrated logistics solutions for local producers and exporters. It aligns with the company's broader expansion strategy across Latin America, solidifying its role as the largest temperature-controlled food logistics provider.

"This facility expansion in Uruguay provides modern and efficient infrastructure for temperature-controlled logistics in domestic and export markets, facilitating effective and sustainable food storage at diverse temperatures," stated Evandro Calanca, Managing Director for the South Cone region at Emergent Cold LatAm. "With its strategic location and easy access to the port of Montevideo, we're well-positioned to meet the needs of the Uruguayan market, enhancing logistical efficiency and extending our storage network in Latin America."

Future Expansion Plans

Alongside the current expansion, Emergent Cold LatAm announced a forthcoming expansion set to be completed by the second half of 2025, adding an additional 4,000 pallet positions for frozen food storage in a 27,000 cubic meter area.

The company began its operations in Uruguay in May 2022 by acquiring Polo Logístico de Frío. In August 2023, it expanded further by acquiring the Frigorífico Modelo (Frimosa) storage business.

Emergent Cold LatAm currently operates 78 facilities across 11 countries in Latin America, reinforcing its leadership in logistics and storage solutions in the region. Through its latest investment, the company remains dedicated to boosting its infrastructure and supporting the logistical needs of Latin America’s food sector.
