Maersk has launched a new warehouse in Fredericia, Denmark, strategically positioned to enhance supply chain efficiency and sustainability. The Port of Fredericia, the largest container port in Southern Denmark and a key import-export hub, is undergoing expansion to accommodate growing cargo volumes and new environmental considerations.
Located within the Triangle Area, the site offers cross-country access within 3 to 4 hours. Conveniently situated in the European transport corridor, it is well-connected to major motorways, a cross-Europe railway network, and Billund Airport, linking Asia and Europe. The warehouse is 100 kilometres from the German-Danish border and 90 kilometres from Aarhus, Denmark’s largest container port, simplifying connections to Germany and other European destinations.
Designed with ambitious decarbonisation goals, the site aligns with Maersk’s ‘net zero by 2040’ target, validated by the Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi). The warehouse features solar panels that return excess renewable energy to the grid. Shunting operations utilize EV trucks, and there are 41 EV charging outlets for delivery vehicles and Maersk employees. Proximity to ports, railways, highways, and airports ensures minimal transit times and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Through this strategic addition, Maersk continues to provide comprehensive and environmentally responsible logistics solutions, strengthening supply chain resilience and efficiency.
