Phononic has entered into an exclusive cold chain licensing agreement with California-based start-up Peltier Technology, Inc. Under the deal, Peltier will commercialize Phononic’s Active Cooling Solutions (ACS) platform, a solid state cooling technology used across cold chain logistics, from fulfillment centers to last mile delivery.
Founded by entrepreneur and investor Hanson Li, Peltier aims to address inefficiencies in the cold chain with modular refrigeration and IoT-enabled solutions. The company has assembled a team of supply chain partners, engineers, and industry executives to drive adoption of flexible cooling technology in applications such as grocery retail and automated warehouses.
Phononic’s ACS platform includes merchandising refrigerators and freezers, portable totes, docking stations, and IoT-enabled temperature control systems. According to the company, the technology has already been used to protect temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and vaccines, support e-commerce operations, and enable delivery of refrigerated goods at retail locations.
“Peltier is excited to license and commercialize Phononic’s next generation of solid state cooling technology,” said Hanson Li, CEO and Founder of Peltier. “With an established ACS platform, supply chain, and customers, Peltier will continue to deliver timely solutions for our customers’ cooling challenges.”
Tony Atti, Co-Founder and CEO of Phononic, stated: “We developed the ACS platform as a solution to the needs of e-commerce, cold chain, retail/grocery and consumer demand for innovating cooling. Licensing provides us the flexibility to leverage Peltier’s cold chain focus to support the market while we enable the future of AI through our datacenter platform.”
