Gias Srl, a prominent name in the frozen food sector, has teamed up with Swisslog to develop a state-of-the-art automated warehouse for its frozen, semi-finished, and finished products. Known for its expertise in frozen vegetables, Gias Srl caters to retail, industrial, and catering clients globally. This development marks a crucial step in Gias's automation strategy, facilitating anticipated demand and boosting operational efficiency.
Natale Lia, General Manager of Gias Srl, highlighted the company's dedication to innovation and quality, noting enhanced service quality and energy savings aligning with their sustainability goals. Initiated seven years ago by President Gloria Tenuta, the project has undergone extensive planning phases, leading to the acquisition of new land next to the existing production site to allow for seamless construction and integration without disrupting current operations.
In November 2022, Gias selected Swisslog to design the new warehouse's structural framework, leveraging Swisslog's expertise in temperature-controlled automation. The design includes a high-bay warehouse system with three Vectura S42 multi-deep stacker cranes, each standing 40 meters tall, and a 150-meter monorail system to connect the warehouse with production and shipping areas.
Managed by Swisslog's SynQ software, the solution also features a two-year maintenance agreement, with construction having started in July 2024 and expected completion in June 2026. This collaboration reinforces Swisslog’s leadership in temperature-controlled facility solutions, promoting automation's role in sustainable, efficient frozen food operations.
