Ti Cold Opens 210,000 sq ft Cold Storage Facility in Georgia

New multi-temperature facility in Banks County supports poultry supply chain and local economy.

Ti Cold and Banks Cold Storage have completed a new 210,000-square-foot (approx. 19,510 m²) cold storage facility in Banks County, Georgia. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on April 11, marked the official opening of the high-capacity, energy-efficient facility designed to meet the expanding needs of the frozen and refrigerated food sectors.

Developed with a focus on operational efficiency and environmental performance, the facility features a clear height of 65 ft (19.8 m), 35 dock doors across two docks, and 30,000 pallet positions. Its strategic location off GA 59 offers direct access to I-85 and US 441, facilitating regional and interstate distribution.

The project, which broke ground on November 29, 2023, was completed in just over a year. The refrigeration system installed by Ti Cold supports temperature ranges from 40°F to -20°F (4.4°C to -28.9°C) while reducing electricity usage. The design emphasizes sustainability and reliability for industries like poultry, a major contributor to Georgia’s $91.5 billion agriculture sector.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper emphasized the facility’s significance to the local supply chain: “This cold storage facility… is going to play a critical role in the success of the poultry industry in getting the product from the farm to the processing facility and then on to market. You’ve got to have these types of facilities to allow that food supply chain to be safe, secure, efficient, and effective.”

According to Tyre Jones, General Manager of Banks Cold Storage, the facility will also provide economic benefits. “With the addition of new jobs, our operations will help to strengthen the local economy… We now have a facility that not only meets our operational needs but also sets a new standard in cold storage, positioning us for long-term success.”

Sam Tippmann, CEO and Founder of Ti Cold, highlighted the project’s broader goals: “This facility is a testament to our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. We are proud to deliver a facility that will meet the growing demands of the frozen food industry.”
