UK wholesale supplier Henry Colbeck has added six Carrier Transicold Supra High Efficiency (HE) 8 refrigeration units to its fleet, continuing the company’s move toward an all-Carrier Transicold temperature-controlled vehicle lineup. The new units are installed on 18-tonne MAN TGM trucks with Gray & Adams bodies, supporting daily operations from the company’s Gateshead headquarters.
The decision to adopt the Supra HE was based on its refrigeration performance and reduced fuel consumption. The new trucks join a 29-vehicle commercial fleet and are part of Henry Colbeck’s broader strategy to equip all temperature-controlled vehicles with Carrier Transicold systems.
The Supra HE units feature semi-electric architecture designed to reduce weight, noise, and environmental impact. Compared to earlier models, the system uses 42% less refrigerant and has 30% fewer brazed joints, helping to limit potential refrigerant leakage and reduce carbon emissions. The streamlined design supports easy integration with various truck bodies and maintains cab tilting capability for maintenance access.
“We’ve started moving towards Carrier Transicold because its products offer the performance, reliability and service support we need,” said Hugh O’Brien, Operations Director at Henry Colbeck. “The Supra series has been a great addition to our business over the years, helping us reduce fuel consumption while performing exceptionally well under pressure year-round.”
