The Cold Chain Federation has announced the winners of the 2025 Cold Chain Sustainability Awards, recognising notable achievements in environmental responsibility and innovation across the temperature-controlled logistics sector.
The awards were presented during the Cold Chain Climate Summit, a sold-out event attended by logistics professionals, sustainability suppliers, government representatives, and academics. The summit addressed critical industry challenges and opportunities on the road to net zero.
This year’s awards showcased efforts to cut energy use, reduce waste, and implement sustainable technologies. Winners included both long-standing contributors and newcomers to sustainability initiatives.
F W Mansfield & Son earned Cold Storage Operator of the Year for the third consecutive year. Richard Doyle, Head of Safety and Sustainability at the company, said:
“We’re well into our journey and the biggest thing is maintaining the momentum that we’ve had. We won the award last year and we’ve won it again this year. We only get that through the drive from our CEO, all the stakeholders in the business, the managers and everyone pulling together.”
The Supplier of the Year award went to Mypower, recognised for solar installations and efforts to address market misconceptions. Neil Stott, Business Development Director at Mypower, highlighted:
“We’ve done a whole piece around educating, partly through the CCF, busting those myths – and showing where it works really, really well and some of the other considerations that you need to have.”
He noted the success of a long-term project with AJK to integrate solar into older buildings, describing the outcome as delivering “some fantastic results.”
Technological achievements were also recognised. Magnavale’s Chesterfield site was awarded Sustainable Cold Store of the Year. The Carver Group received the Cold Storage Innovation award for its Thermoscreen Air Curtain, while Schmitz Cargobull’s S.KOe COOL trailer received the Refrigerated Transport Innovation award.
The Sustainable Partnership Project award went to AJK, Mypower & Partners for their PV Project Phase 2. DFDS Logistics received two awards: Refrigerated Transport Operator of the Year and for their Business Climate Initiative on electrifying UK freight.
Individual honours included the Climate Champion award to Esther Kabiito and Outstanding Leadership to Ashley McCulla. The P & M Group also received recognition for its “Sustainability with Stickerbook” initiative.
Commenting on the awards, Tom Southall, Deputy CEO of the Cold Chain Federation, said:
“These individuals and organisations are leading the way in sustainable innovation, demonstrating that environmental responsibility can be aligned with business success… Together, they are driving the movement towards a greener, more sustainable future for the UK cold chain sector.”
