Liebherr Introduces Undercounter Refrigerator for Flammable Materials

Liebherr Appliances USA has expanded its Scientific Laboratory portfolio with the SRTfg 1501, a new undercounter refrigerator designed for storing flammable materials. The unit features a spark-free interior, temperature control and alarm systems for use in laboratories, healthcare facilities and industrial environments.

The SRTfg 1501 is designed to fit beneath standard laboratory work surfaces. Its spark-free interior places electrical components outside the storage compartment to help reduce ignition risks associated with volatile substances. The refrigerator is engineered to meet applicable requirements of NFPA 45, Standard on Fire Protection for Laboratories Using Chemicals, and NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code.

The refrigerator provides stable temperature conditions, including +2 °C (35.6 °F) freeze protection, and incorporates advanced alarm systems. Its compact design supports refrigerated storage of solvents, reagents, samples and other temperature-sensitive flammable materials directly within laboratory and production work areas.

Potential applications include pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial and quality-control laboratories, coatings and adhesives production, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, and aerospace and automotive testing facilities.

The SRTfg 1501 will be available starting in November 2026. It is covered by Liebherr’s Scientific portfolio warranty, which includes five years of parts-and-labor coverage and ten years of compressor coverage.

“The need for safe, reliable, refrigerated storage extends far beyond traditional research laboratories,” said Aaron Stout, Sales Manager Americas. “This new undercounter solution provides organizations across multiple industries with a compact and dependable option for storing flammable materials while maximizing workspace efficiency.”
