LiquidStack has introduced CDU 2.X, a coolant distribution unit designed for high-density AI infrastructure. The system provides up to 2.5 MW of cooling at a 4°C ATD and is designed to address increasing flow-per-kW and rack differential-pressure requirements.
CDU 2.X uses a common architecture intended to support current AI deployments and successive compute platforms. It can be deployed in end-of-row and rack-adjacent layouts and configured with different redundancy approaches.
Configuration options include CCV or PICV facility control valves, standard or ultra-low-harmonic VFDs, dual A/B power feeds or dual feed with ATS, and top or bottom piping connections. Communications options include Modbus RTU, RESTful API with Redfish, BACnet and SNMP. Rope leak detection, flow metering and fluid-quality monitoring are also available.
In single-pump mode, the CDU supports internal N+1 pump redundancy, while dual-pump mode supports CDU-to-CDU redundancy. The design includes concurrently maintainable pumps, 25-micron secondary strainers, fast-acting control valves and integrated leak detection.
LiquidStack says CDU 2.X supports cooling at low approach temperatures for integration between technology-cooling and facility-water loops. The platform is intended for AI training and inference infrastructure, new data center deployments and capacity expansions, and facilities requiring configurable power, controls and redundancy.
