A new chiller with environmentally friendly refrigerant for Frascold’s production facilities

For Frascold, respect and attention to the environment start at its headquarters, with a chiller featuring compressors of its own production with a magnet motor, for systems that combine efficiency and a smaller carbon footprint.

As its slogan ‘Blue is Better’ says, sustainability goes blue for Frascold. With its strong expertise, the company devotes itself every day to the promotion of sustainability across the board, starting from its headquarters and its production processes, all the way to its final products. In pursuit of this goal, Frascold strengthens its plant with a brand-new chiller with environmentally friendly refrigerant and a GWP of 7, for the proper functioning of all benches and calorimeters in the test room.

The water cooling system joins a multitude of initiatives and technical improvements promoted by Frascold to reduce its environmental impact, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels, relamping, and a water-to-water heat pump. Another one is the test laboratory, the application area of the new unit created in partnership with Tecnofreddo.

The machine features flooded evaporators and a cooling capacity of 350 kW, for an even higher performance of the calorimeters and test benches. This benefit is further enhanced by an ATEX-certified compressor from the Magnetic series, the MAG5-03, which features an IPM motor and variable condensation and speed with a wide adjustment range, guaranteeing 20% more energy saving compared to a conventional system. The compressor, just like the entire system, is constantly monitored to control its consumption and total absorption, useful and essential information for the technical team too, which can also analyse its endurance this way.

‘This new project allows us to directly field test the adaptability and flexibility of our compressors in their different fields of application, thus certifying their quality. The chiller, located outside, aims to further strengthen the test benches and calorimeters, thanks to which we will be able to carry out additional tests with refrigerants such as R290 and CO2,’ explained Corrado de Gioia-Carabellese, Frascold’s Product Development Specialist, who continued, ‘This chiller is a concrete example of Frascold’s commitment to continuous improvement and a sustainable future, with the utmost respect for the environment. Sustainability is indeed one of the company’s primary values, promoted in every one of its projects and in all its valuable partnerships, with which we create brand-new technologies.’
