The National Air Conditioning Department, DNAC, of the Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating, ABRAVA, has started a new two-year management cycle focused on decarbonization, technical training and institutional strengthening for the sector.
The department is now led by João Manuel Aureliano, representing Daikin, as president, and Gustavo Hoffmann, from Midea Carrier, as vice president. The new leadership says its work will be technical, collaborative and results-oriented.
DNAC takes office as the sector grows and changes. According to recent data cited by the association, production of split equipment in the Manaus Free Trade Zone increased from 3.8 million units in 2023 to more than 6.7 million in 2025. For 2026, growth of around 10% is expected, with central systems also highlighted for applications in corporate buildings, pharmaceutical laboratories, data centers, hospitals and shopping centers.
Short-term priorities include reinforcing DNAC’s institutional position as a technical reference, expanding work on regulatory issues and intensifying dialogue with the market. The department also plans to map technical and regulatory bottlenecks affecting sector development.
In the medium term, DNAC will focus on expanding professional training and certification programs and promoting good practices in design, installation and maintenance. It also plans closer integration with regulatory and standards bodies and related entities, along with support for more efficient and sustainable technologies.
The new structure includes technical and advisory councils and thematic working groups. DNAC said its priority topics include indoor air quality, decarbonization and energy efficiency, regulatory updates, professional training and technological innovation, including solutions based on automation and applied intelligence.
