ABRAVA hosts ASHRAE Society President during visit to Brazil

On February 12, ASHRAE Society President Bill McQuade was received by Leonardo Cozac, chairman of ABRAVA’s administrative board, for an institutional visit aimed at strengthening the existing partnership between the two organizations. In addition to the two presidents, other leaders from both entities attended the meeting at ABRAVA’s headquarters in São Paulo.

The visit opened with a presentation by Cozac, who outlined ABRAVA’s institutional scope, technical departments, and areas of activity. He highlighted the priorities of the new administration: Decarbonization, Indoor Air Quality, and Food Safety.

Cozac also spoke about the importance of indoor air quality as discussed at the most recent UN conference, and about his appointment to participate in the Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air commission.

CONBRAVA 2025 was highlighted as an example of success and of the sector’s growing demand for updates in Brazil’s HVACR industry. The association’s agenda and the 2026 action timeline were presented, leading to a discussion on workforce qualification and education in the HVACR sector—concerns identified not only in Brazil, but also in other countries.

ABRAVA’s international relations president, Samoel Vieira de Souza, emphasized the importance of the association’s partnership with ASHRAE and other international entities, reinforcing the synergy of global topics such as the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment. According to ASHRAE, McQuade’s presence in Brazil and the visit to ABRAVA strengthen the direct connection to the organization’s global vision regarding technical standards, innovation, and the future of the HVACR industry.
