AHRI Launches Interactive Map for Canadian Refrigerant Building Codes

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has released an interactive map detailing provincial and local building codes across Canada that permit the use of A2L refrigerants. This follows the successful introduction of a similar map for the United States in 2024.

The maps serve as a comprehensive resource for HVACR stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers, contractors, building inspectors, fire marshals, and policymakers. They provide accessible information on air conditioning, refrigeration, and warehousing codes, as well as legislation and standards in effect.

"The response to AHRI’s U.S. interactive map was overwhelmingly positive, so we were confident that providing this resource to our Canadian counterparts would be helpful to all stakeholders,” said Tom Deary, AHRI Senior Director of Codes. “AHRI’s interactive maps are the only comprehensive sources for information on building codes and legislation available, and will be updated as codes and laws change."

Developed in collaboration with the Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), the Canadian refrigerant code map aims to support industry professionals by keeping them informed about regulatory changes.
